Artificial intelligence may possess many abilities, but it can’t be kind to other people. Smiling at someone, giving them a reassuring touch, making them feel seen — above all, making them feel that they’re only human and that it’s perfectly fine to feel the way they feel. That’s something AI simply cannot do.
When a machine cheers me on, it’s a different feeling than when a person I care about does it. When you encourage someone or simply show up for them, listen — that does them more good than any amount of time spent in front of a screen, no matter how intelligent the device on the other side might be.
