Artificial intelligence might have many capabilities, but it can’t be kind to other people.
Smiling at someone. Giving them a gentle touch. Making them feel good about themselves — especially that feeling that they’re only human and it’s okay to feel whatever they’re feeling. AI can’t do that.
When a machine cheers me on, it feels different than when a caring person does it. When you encourage someone or simply be there for them, listening — that helps them in ways no electric device can match, no matter how intelligent it claims to be.
This started life in German on reinergaertner.de, my blog since 1997. The English version was AI-assisted. My German-trained eyes may have missed a few things along the way. She’ll be right.
