We're in Lockdown

Only recently I’d written that I was shutting down my website “This Australian Life” to do something else with the blog. Changed my mind.

This Australian Life” lives on. I’ve redesigned the site and I’m moving all 50 articles across to the new platform. You’ve probably figured out it’s built on the same foundation as this blog. Makes my workflow much smoother — I can publish faster and more often.

Already posted about yesterday’s snap lockdown on the Australian blog. We’ve been lucky here — this is only Newcastle’s second lockdown since March 2020. Pretty spoiled, really.

The “snap lockdown” runs for a week initially. We’ll see how we manage with homeschooling this time.

Not completely inexperienced though. This audio piece happened at our kitchen table during the last lockdown. We rehearsed it all day, then recorded. Already a family classic — have a listen. Self-composed and performed (singers: Valentin, Lilia, Vincent, Jolanda and Reiner).

This post started in German on reinergaertner.de — yes, 1997, I’ve been doing this a while. The translation was AI-assisted. Any remaining awkwardness is authentically bilingual.
